- Kevin V. Michael is a student, entrepreneur and corporate guinea pig currently based in Dallas, TX. He is a native of Antigua & Barbuda, a twin-island Caribbean nation.
Education
Kevin is a graduate of the University of Miami class of ‘07, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, and also completed a second major in Computer Science with a minor in Computer Information Systems.
He is currently enrolled at the University of Dallas Graduate School of Management and expects to be awarded a dual degree MBA & MS in Information Technology in 2009. Mr. Michael is also an inductee of Sigma Iota Epsilon, a national Honorary and Professional Management fraternity.
Volunteerism
While at the University of Miami, Kevin was a part of numerous clubs and organizations. Most notably, he served as the Chapter President of the University of Miami Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers.
For his dedication to the mission of NSBE and contribution to the development of the chapter, Kevin was awarded the Chapter President Visionary Award by the Region III Executive Board.
Work Experience
Mr. Michael’s professional work experiences have come courtesy brief stints with Motorola and Citigroup. As a Software Engineer in the Mobile Devices Division of Motorola, Kevin focused on the development of quality assurance and management reporting applications.
At Citigroup, Mr. Michael was part of the highly selective Citi Operations & Technology Management Associate Program. In his last role prior to departing Citi, he served as a Project Manager in the North America Program Management Office of Citi Technology Infrastructure. There he managed cross-functional engineering and operations team in the design and deployment of software and hardware infrastructure solutions.
Entrepreneurship
Kevin’s interests in Entrepreneurship have always been rooted in the enterprising nature of his mother and the financial conservatism of his dad. In 1999, he was awarded the Junior Achiever of the Year award for his efforts as the President of the group AYSE (Antiguan Youth String for Excellence), a JA student run company which sold personalized greeting cards, and kitchen apparel. Under his service, AYSE was also awarded the Junior Achievement Company of the Year.
He continues to pursue his entrepreneurial interests, and is in the process of bringing an IT services company to market.
Interests & Hobbies
Mr. Michael’s other interests include investing, technology, Pan-Africanism and politics. In his spare time he enjoys reading books, spending time at the local Starbucks and catching up with his network of friends, acquaintances and mentors.
